No the motherboards. I got my “good priced” X79 board in like 2014 or 2015 (something like that) for $130 and it was a lower end but decent motherboard.
Now the same board I could sell for $200 had I not used it for LN2 and dice lol
Yeah, but compared to that the CPUs were much much cheaper than the mobos which made no sense to me.
Because server farms went from X79 to X99 so X79 chips flooded the market for a long time. Then they ran out a while after Wendell did the video on it as the demand skyrocketed so the prices increased again.

Server farms did mass upgrades so all the x79 hardware and ram was sold off at whatever prices it could be sold at.
Mainly it is just the switch to DDR4 though from x79 to x99 so I’m sure if Intel had wanted to it could have been same socket but nope lol.
In any case pricing on x99 is actually quite good currently, then again Ryzen is much better value so yeah.
But there are some interesting deals on super high core count but low frequency ES CPUs on x99 so if you need a cheap VM box that would be one way to go.

Not really as it didnt pan out very well lol

Technical still sick, I’m going to call my insurance and find a doctor to go to. 4 weeks is too long to be sick. It is not a terrible sick but enough to still not feel well.
