Seagate had one really bad run of 3tb drives and thats about it. And everyone else that used similar tech also had a lot of broken 3tb drives as well at the time.
Ive had mostly Seagate drives for years now without issues… Though I won’t buy a 3tb from them anytime soon ive had 1tb, 2tb and 4tb ones a lot.

Yep funny how you can have a string of bad drives and suddenly everything is bad. Actually my oldest drive still in use is an 80GB Seagate SATA taking from my P4 and still works like a champ. Me with drives now though is mostly getting the best cost per gb and don’t care about the brand as much as they are usually pretty good whichever you get and I have backups anyway.

Same. I basically just have literally random ones that I’ve collected from recycling.
Currently rocking Intel 750 Series PCIE 800gb as main OS, a 2tb Seagate, and a 1tb WD Velociraptor.
May add another Seagate (but a 4tb) at some point but I currently don’t need it so.
The 2tb seagate I’ve had since like 2015 Iirc. And its been in my daily ever since so not a bad drive at all.

Me for HDDs is a 2TB Toshiba P300 for storage and a 1TB HGST I salvaged from my mothers laptop for Windows games. Also my 850 EVO for Linux and a 240 GB Hectron SSD for my Windows VM. Other than that I have a 1TB WD red in my server which I got on sale for the same price as a blue and a ton of 2.5 drives from laptops laying around plus a couple IDE drives. I’ve already salvaged the rest of my 3.5 SATA drives which were mostly dead seagates from OEM machines with poor airflow.

Movies and TV shows only make up ~1TB.
Music ~150GB, and ROMS ~330GB.

Straight up hentai? None. Only ecchi stuff of various degrees. But tbh, after watching so much anime the lines get blurry and I don’t even notice nudity unless it’s something ridiculous.

My uncle does a similar thing (has like 8tb of movies and TV shows on a plex server) but he and a few friends are collectors so they share a lot of the stuff they find. And pirate some lol
Like I watched a bootleg version of the not-harry-potter-but-in-same-world that had janky audio and japanese subtitles for some reason lol. But he generally just gets the legit copies or good quality ones. Has basically every new movie when it comes out (and sometimes before it does) that way
