hmm. at some point the laptop went to lock screen when i was gone at some point but it went through 2x 1.5 hour movies so it canā€™t have been that long but itā€™s at 3 hours 15mins and thereā€™s still 57% of the large battery left so not bad lol @Dje4321
would let it keep running but i am sleeping now so i canā€™t keep an eye on it so will see when i get all the other hardware how long it will last after its all ready.

Found an i5-560M for Ā£11.95 shipped. Has a turbo of 3.20GHz which is a nice bump over the 2.40GHz of my i3 and also supports VT-d but I doubt my chipset does but you never know. Should be here in a couple of days, canā€™t wait to see if it works :smiley:

yeah the overlay for voice/video stuff right? iirc I think their is a plugin to hide/disable it somewhere.

Physically and electrically incompatible. Youā€™ve probably got a laptop with the rPGA989 socket, which exists as a physical socket with both key pins. A lot of OEMs used it from the outset since they wouldnā€™t need to buy new sockets when shifting production to a new chipset/platform, but rPGA988A CPUs (Arrandale, Clarksdale) are still electrically incompatible with later rPGA988B CPUs (Sandy-Bridge, Ivy-Bridge). Bit of a pisser that Intel knew they were going to be changing the socket and electrical layout before the release of the first gen mobile series.

Good to know, wasnā€™t really aware of any of this and just tried it on a whim, kinda sucks that Intel would do that but canā€™t say Iā€™m surprised.

I actually ended up going with an i5-560M, they are both Arrandale CPUs so hopefully iā€™ll be compatible.
