I now have Fedora setup the way I like it with PCIe passthrough working like a dream, I just need to compile my own kernel with the ACS patch which I’m not looking forward to.
He does and it was what I was using but it hasn’t been updated to Fedora 28 yet, I may ask in the topic on L1 if he has plans to add it soon.
did a thing… updated my twitch desccription and such with specs… only after i listed them did i realize how much in tech i have lol… but i digress:
yes it’s 4k screencap you probably need to zoom in on it
also will strim in a while. probably after I eat and such, so an hour or three
but still.
also i might finish the website, will see. more focused on streaming though atm
Writing happening. Thought of a better way to start.
well, i will start with Quake Champions strim and then see what i want to do from there. might do World of tanks if there is noone playing Quake, or perhaps Empire TW but will see twitch.tv/caveman12342
song requests and bots are still on to play with those (i.e. roullete with the derps lol) so there’s also that
FUCK YEAH my ACS patched kernel compiled without any issues and Nvidia drivers work with them too
I’ve done some quick and dirty testing on my VM and there are performance regressions from the previous build. Setting the topology to 4C8T I’m down over 600 points in Cinebench and about 200 points if I set i to all 8 cores. Not having @SgtAwesomesauce’s patched QEMU may have something todo with that as iirc it fixed some performance issues on Ryzen.
Edit: I’m dumb and forgot I set 16 threads for Cinebench on my previous build, I’m actually up from 1396 to 1532 points now
G’d evening gents n’ gentess.
Why good evening me old chap.
Quite the evening it is indeed.
absolutely tis a splendid evening.
Alas however I must depart. For there is a slumber that needs to be had. But to pop in for a hello was a pleasure. Until next time Sir.
G’night me old fella
Welcome back
So ive been playing around with the Intel XTU(Extreme Tuning Ulitility) and trying to nail down my speed issue. Ive managed to come up with a couple of hypothesis.
-
When i unplug the charger, the cpu when enter a thermal throttle state every so briefly. whats interesting is that AIDA64 reports no thermal throttling but you can see spikes in CPU usage as the clock speeds bottoms out. I suspect this might be the cause of the issue as its tricking the system into thinking its overheating.
-
Windows Power management being strange. I can force the CPU to upclock again by forcing it into 100% cpu speed in the power settings.
Need more time to test it out more thoroughly and see if i can find anything else out before coming to any kind of conclusion
nice those are some pretty good lead into what may be going on, I’m especally curious about the first conclusion because that sounds like very strange bahavoiur but possibly much worse to figure out but then again Windows Power management can be known todo very weird things.
Also this isn’t the lounge
nothing more than mere thoughts in my head atm. I dont have much to go on atm and its hard to replicate this bug
yes lol
Yes but its a start at least. intermittent problems are always the worse to troubleshoot but not much you can do but go at it from whichever way you can and try and find what sticks.
and the wait begins lol
